The FDA recently sent warning letters to three popular brands of eyelash and brow enhancing products. RapidLash Eyelash Renewal Serum, NeuLash Eyelash Technology and NeuveauBrow Active Eyebrow Technology all make claims that their products help eye lashes/brows to grow. And according to many satisfied customers, it seems the claims are true.

But the problem here isn’t if the claims are true, but that the claims violate the FDA Cosmetics Act, which does not allow cosmetic companies to advertise that a product makes physiological differences. The FDA also says the main ingredient in these products, isopropyl cioprostenate, is an unapproved new drug.

Isopropyl cioprostenate is a synthetically produced compound that is approved for use on glaucoma patients.

The warning letter advises the three brand holders to change their advertising or face legal action. Have you tried eyelash growth products (not mascaras or other products that simply coat the lashes)? Did they make your lashes grow? Did you have any adverse reactions to them?

We'd love to hear your thoughts!
