Angela Jia Kim’s Om Aroma
Jump to: Comments | Related Posts | Read MoreI was already a huge fan of Angela Jia Kim, co-founder of the dynamic entrepreneurial network for women, Savor the Success. But when I recently learned that Angela also created Om Aroma, a luxury spa line of organic body and skincare, I was determined to meet her. Om Aroma, an award winning beauty line, is a healthy concept taken up a notch. Just read the ingredients.
Few product lines – mainstream or organic – contain caviar and White Truffle. But the luxe ingredients aren’t just for buzz. Caviar is rich in Omega-3 Fatty acids and White Truffle is said to restore skin’s radiance and luminosity.
When I arrived at the Om Aroma & Co. Beauty Bar inside the Limelight Market in New York City, I’d already heard wonderful things. Allure Magazine chose Om Aroma as one of its Editor’s Favorites. And Paris Vogue said, “Om Aroma is Christian Dior meets natural and organic.” They also touted the products as providing, “Real Anti-aging results.”
Angela welcomed me to Om Aroma with a pampering hand massage over a beautiful glass bowl filled with aromatic fresh roses. Her Nectar Douceur Body Wash cleaned away the city dirt, while her Délices Sucrés, a delicious body sugar scrub, removed dead skin cells. And finally, Crème Eclat, her Chardonnay Body Crème added much needed moisture.
My hands felt and smelled wonderful. And I had no concerns about what toxins I may have been exposed to. Angela was determined to create a luxury line sans any nasty chemicals and questionable preservatives. Just to break it down further, that means no parabens. No formaldehyde. No mineral oil. No synthetic fragrances. And no chemical fillers.
Instead you’ll find Manuka honey, organic apricot extract, Champagne grape seeds, organic red raspberry and of course, $3,000 a pound White Truffles. Angela’s passion for providing the freshest, healthiest spa quality products is evident.
When you ask her, “Why is organic so important to you,” (I always ask that because the stories are fascinating), Angela has a not-so-funny story to tell about a rash. She was an award winning concert pianist on tour when she used a supposedly natural body lotion. To her disbelief, she broke out into a rash – just before heading on stage.
After her concert, she grabbed her “natural” lotion and read the ingredients list. She counted more than 55 chemicals and preservatives. That was the little seed that planted Om Aroma in Angela’s head. Why not make a wonderfully pampering line of skincare that is truly natural? Angela’s mantra for Om Aroma is “give power back to nature.”
After my hand massage, we took a moment to discuss Angela’s future plans for Om Aroma. The line is currently in several spas across the country, but Angela alluded to a full on Om Aroma experience in the near future. A concept spa, perhaps? No one knows yet, but I can hardly wait to see what’s next for this wonderfully luxurious line.
