I’m always happy to see women shopping the beauty aisle at their local health food stores instead of hitting up the drug store. And when I notice a woman picking up a product, turning it over and reading the ingredients, my heart skips a beat. But I understand that not every woman yet realizes (or is convinced of) the importance of choosing non-toxic beauty products. So I refrain from giving natural beauty sermons in my local RiteAid.
But I think most of us can agree that what we eat and drink has a positive or negative affect on our overall health and the health of our skin. Cutting out the processed, hydrogenated, boxed, etc. foods and replacing them with home cooked meals, fresh fruit and eight full glasses of water a day (instead of Mountain Dew) will go a long way towards beautiful, glowing skin.
For those of you who’ve been considering the notion of of a more natural beauty routine, but don’t know where to start, this article will show you basics that lead to more beautiful skin. And the best part is, these tips aren’t expensive, or arduous, all day routines. I know you’re busy with kids, your favorite TV shows, or an online game of Cheeky Bingo. These tips will fit into your lifestyle just perfectly.
Drink Green Tea
Herbal teas such as green tea are infused with anti oxidants, which help to promote healthier and clearer skin. In addition, it is thought that regular drinkers of green tea are less likely to develop certain types of cancer, as well as reducing the risk of getting heart disease. Plus, getting plenty of water during the day is the perfect way to maintain a clear complexion, as it keeps your skin elasticated and hydrated. So brew up a cup or two of organic green tea every day and watch what what it does for your skin.
Take Vitamins and omega 3 oils
Including more essential nutrients into your diet, such as vitamin A and C, helps to keep your skin naturally healthy and soft. Beverages such as cranberry and grape juice are packed with anti oxidants and vitamins, which help to give your face a natural and healthy glow. In addition, omega 3 fats – which are found in oily fish such as salmon and mackerel – are essential for keeping skin hydrated and soft. Look for real fruit juices, not sugary blends. Or better yet, buy a juicer and juice fresh fruits and veggies at home.
Eat Manuka Honey
Often nicknamed ‘magic manuka’, this special type of honey from Australia and New Zealand has been clinically proven to have outstanding medical benefits, from curing bacterial fungus infections and sore throats, to helping to quickly heal mouth ulcers. It has also been proven to make a fantastic cleansing moisturizer and age defying product. Look for raw Manuka honey with a UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) of 12 or higher for the most benefit.
